COAT - Climate-ecological Observatory for Arctic Tundra - is the response of the Fram Centre
(High North Research Centre for Climate and the Environment) to the international calls for ecosystem-based climate impact observatories in the terrestrial arctic. COAT is a system for long-term adaptive ecosystem monitoring based on food-web theory, and aims to become the world’s most comprehensive and management relevant long-term research enterprise for arctic terrestrial ecosystems. A peer reviewed science plan for COAT
has been published as an issue of the Fram Centre report series.
