About the study
Do you want to take mathematics or statistics to an advanced level, in theory or in application? In this two-year master’s program you specialize in algebra, geometry, statistics, applied mathematics or complex systems, and write your thesis under close supervision from an active researcher.
What will you learn?
You develop advanced expertise in your chosen area, whether theoretical, applied, computational or statistical, built on a broad foundation in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. In your courses you learn to
• master the central theories and methods of your field and understand why they work
• construct rigorous arguments and present mathematics clearly, in writing and orally
• apply advanced methods to models, data or computations
Your master’s thesis is an independent research project. Together with your supervisor, you formulate a question, plan the work, adapt your approach as the project develops and carry it through to a finished thesis.
