Information about The Tromsø Study
For the eighth time, the adult population of Tromsø is invited to participate in Norway's most comprehensive and well-attended population study. A total of 37,000 residents are invited to participate.
Dear citizen of Tromsø,
UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites all residents born before December 31, 1985, and who are registered in Tromsø municipality as of January 1, 2025, to participate in the Tromsø Study. The study takes place in the period March 2025 to December 2026. Last opening day is December 22nd, 2026.
If you have received a postcard or an SMS-message from us, you are invited.
Participation involves completing a questionnaire and undergoing a health examination. We will take blood samples and measure your weight, height, blood pressure, and heart rate. A random selection of participants will be chosen for additional tests. Please note that the Tromsø Study can be conducted in either Norwegian or English.
Drop by anytime!
Your invitation remains valid even if your appointment time has passed. You can come to our walk-in clinic at any time during opening hours, and you do not need to contact us to book a new appointment. Here is a link to the consent form and questionnaire, which you can complete before you arrive. Remember to bring valid ID and your BankID.
Opening hours at Sjølundvegen 3
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 08.00–15.30
- Tuesday and Thursday: 08.00–06.00
- The following Saturdays, 10:00–14:00:
- 5 September
- 3, 24 and 31 October
- 7, 14, 21 and 28 November
- 5, 12 and 19 December
We are closed on 18 September and 30 October.
Your participation matters
By participating in the Tromsø Study, you contribute to important health research both nationally and internationally. You will also receive a free health check and feedback on your own health. As a participant, you can be confident that all the information you have provided to the Tromsø Study by participating is treated with respect for privacy, and in accordance with laws and regulations.
