Presentations for GeoPraksis on the international arena.
During April and May, “GeoPraksis” have been presenting results on various conferences and arenas internationally. In April we gave a presentation on the EGU (European Geoscience Union) conference in Vienna, during the splinter meetings discussing new forms of approaching industry academia collaboration. The title of the talk was «Internships in academia – challenges and opportunities for practical orientation in disciplinary and multidisciplinary study programs in higher education». This raised for a good debate across participants from all over the world regarding how projects including external industry may lead to cultural changes in academia.
Later in April we also gave a digital presentation for the AMPS (Applying education) conference in Toronto Canada (https://amps-research.com/conference/applying-education/). The title of the talk was “Internships in academia – challenges and opportunities for practical orientation in disciplinary and multidisciplinary study programs in higher education”. From a Norwegian perspective it is interesting to see the results that have been generated through the years of “GeoPraksis” compared to international affiliates. And it is nice and wise to present the results on international arenas to rise debate regarding the future of internships in disciplinary sciences.
The ”GeoPraksis” project was invited to present the project and it’s results during the Kiel University Institute meetings, where a large group of students, researchers and lecturers had met to hear and discuss the values of internships in especially geosciences. The value of integrating internships into the scientific education was debated throughout the discussion that followed the presentation. The title of the talk was “Geoscientist’s internships – relevant performance for the future challenges.” Thank you Kiel University for inviting.
