Jeg jobber som førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for klinisk medisin, Forskningsgruppe for barne og ungdomshelse helse, Pediatrisk infeksjonsgruppe. Jeg har ansvar for veiledning og undervisning av studenter på bachelor, master og PhD nivå. Pediatrisk forskningsgruppe har flere prosjekter innen infeksjon, og har som mål å bedre diagnostikk og behandling av alvorlige infeksjoner hos barn.

    Forskningsinteresser


    Mitt forskningsfokus er på infeksjoner hos nyfødte, med spesielt fokus på infeksjoner forårsaket av koagulase negative stafylokokker, biofilm og antibiotika resistens. Vår hovedmålsetning er å finne nye behandlingsmetoder ved å identifisere virulensmekanismer hos Staphylococcus haemolyticus. I 2020 oppdaget vi en ny stafylokokkart, Staphylococcus borealis, vi forsker nå på hvilke infeksjoner denne hittil ubeskrevne bakterien gir. I 2023, startet vi prosjektet OPTIMIST prosjektet, der vi ønsker å se på årsaker til brystbetennelse. Studien vil forhåpentligvis resultere i bedre forebygging og behandling av brystbetennelse, som rammer omtrent 20% av ammende mødre.

    Bidrar med forelesninger/seminarer FAR-2201 Immunologi og mikrobiologi, FAR-2204 Fysiologi og  ERN-3001 Epidemiologi, statistikk og forskningsmetode ved UiT. Veiledning av medisin forskerlinjestudenter,studenter på bachelor og master nivå, samt PhD kandidater.
