About the course

This course is for PhD-students only.

The lectures will give a concise and practical treatment of the theoretical basis and philosophy for constructing each module in a typical seismic processing sequence, from loading the field data to the finished processed section. The exercises will cover processing of a seismic line, with documentation of the reasons for choosing processing parameters during the different steps.

Admission requirements

All students have to apply using this form. Deadline: 6 weeks prior to the start of the course. The form should be sent to Faculty of Science and Technology, UiT. All external students (students who are not enrolled as a PhD-student in science at the Faculty of Science and Technology at UiT Arctic university of Norway) have to attach a confirmation that (s)he is a PhD-student at his/her home institution. Students who hold a Master of Science degree, but are not yet enrolled as a PhD-student have to attach a copy of their master's degree diploma. These students also have to the pay semester fee and attach the receipt for this. The fee has to be paid for the semester the exam is held.

Objectives of the course

Students will be provided with practical techniques in processing multichannel reflection seismic data.

Credit reduction

If you pass the examination in this course, you will get an reduction in credits (as stated below), if you previously have passed the following courses:

GEO-3126 Practical seismic processing 5 ects

Teaching methods

40 hours lectures/exercises.

Language of instruction and examination

English.

Schedule
