About the course
Elective course for exchange students
- developing performance skills on student’s principal instrument with emphasis on technical and musical aspects and practice routines
- studying new repertoire from periods and styles that are representative for the instrument. Some Nordic repertoire should be included. If relevant, own compositions can constitute part of the studied material.

Objectives of the course
By completing the course the student will attain the following learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
- possess insight in and knowledge about relevant repertoire, styles and genres in their respective contexts
Skills
- have the ability to interpret music, written or otherwise transmitted, and perform in various solo and ensemble settings
- choose appropriate methods and strategies for practicing and performing new repertoire
General competence
- be a versatile performer with musical insight, flexible technique and the ability to realize artistic vision
Teaching methods
Tuition is given individually and in groups. Students will participate in projects, ensemble activities and public concerts. If relevant, parts of the instrumental/vocal lessons will include accompaniment.
Independent study and practice are central to this course, and it is expected that students take responsibility for organizing their work week

The schedules are normally finalized and published well in advance of the start of the semester, often a few weeks beforehand. This gives students the opportunity to organize their studies and prepare for upcoming activities.

- A list of studied repertoire of 45 minutes minimum, half of which must have been performed during the semester. The list can include some ensemble repertoire.
