The course can be taken as a single subject.

Admission requirements

A relevant undergraduate bachelor in engineering, primarily within electronics or space technology.

In addition, the following requirements must be met:

- minimum 25 credits in mathematics (equivalent to Mathematical Methods 1, 2 og 3), 5 credits in statistics and 7,5 ects i physics on a higher level is required.

Course content

The content of the course will be presented within the context of satellite design:

  • Hardware architectures and design.
  • Software architectures and design.
  • Fault-tolerant design techniques.
  • Real-time systems.
  • Communication and networking.
  • Verification, validation and testing.

Objectives of the course

Knowledge (K):

After completing the embedded systems course the candidate:

  • Has advanced knowledge of embedded systems.
  • Has thorough understanding of the central theories and methodologies of embedded systems.
  • Can analyse formulated problems related to the implementation of software in embedded systems and identify methods to solve these.

Skills (S):

After completing the embedded systems course the candidate:

  • Can analyse existing theories and methodologies related to embedded systems and work independently on solving theoretical and practical challenges.

General competence (GC):

After completing the embedded systems course the candidate:

  • The candidate will be able to demonstrate understanding of central, associated principles and concepts within Embedded Systems.
