Press release News and Achievements in the month June 2024
Greetings from the Ocean Incubator Network Community!
June has been an incredibly fruitful month for us, and we're excited to share the good news that we've been a part of. Here's a detailed look at our achievements and ongoing projects:
Work Done:
-
Book Progress: We're thrilled to announce that our plans for the upcoming book are moving forward. We've successfully submitted our proposal to Palgrave MacMillan and have committed to delivering the manuscript by September 30, 2024. Additionally, we've submitted the book for endorsement as an Ocean Decade Activity, aligning our efforts with the global Ocean Literacy goals.
-
Video Resource Development: In collaboration with our talented video-making team, we are in the process of developing a video resource based on the book. This project is still underway, but we are confident that the final product will be both informative and engaging.
Awards and Steps Forward:
-
EUGLOH Course on Planetary Health: We're proud to announce the establishment of the EUGLOH course on Planetary Health within the Faculty of Law UiT The Arctic University of Norway (JUR-1005). After a productive meeting with our partner at the University of Hamburg, the UiT Team is diligently working on structuring and enriching the course content.
-
Autumn School Funding: In a collaborative effort with the University of Turin, the University of Bari, and Bayreuth University, we have secured funding from DAAD to organize an Autumn School in September 2024 (Project title: „Protection of the sea and at sea adopting co-productive created methods of participation” – Human rights and nature rights approaches of sea governance). The coordination team includes Eva Lohse, Margherita Poto, Annamaria Bonomo, Laura Vita, Violeta Radovich, Juliana Hayden, Mojgan Pooladi, and Dana Ahmed.
-
Erasmus+ Mobility Funding: We have received fantastic news about funding for mobility under Erasmus+ for the next three academic years (2024-2027), focusing on Ocean and water governance. Our partners for this initiative will be academic and educational institutions in Brazil and Argentina.
-
Oxford Real Farming Conference 2025: Thanks to the coordination by Sofie Quist, our application to participate in the Oxford Real Farming Conference 2025 has been accepted! At the conference, Sofie Quist, Laura Vita, Margherita Poto, and Mathilde Morel will utilize the Ocean Incubator Network Toolkit in workshops with food producers and farmers, testing its efficacy and gathering valuable feedback.
As we look back at a month filled with progress and forward to new opportunities, we want to thank each member of our community for your continued support and enthusiasm. Your involvement is what drives our success and impact.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make waves in ocean conservation and governance!
