ECOCARE Workshop in Brazil: Learning from Each Other and Learning from the Ocean
The ECOCARE Team is thrilled to announce an event organized in collaboration with the Aldeia Maraka’nà! Giulia Parola, our project coordinator from Brazil, will lead the day-long workshop alongside Ana Maria Montaña Monoga, our ECOCARE Master's student from Norway (Department of Geosciences, UiT The Arctic University of Norway). They will be joined by Cecília Campos and Natalia Carvalho Médici Machado, our ECOCARE PhD exchange students from Brazil (2023), and Aline Wennerstrom, our ECOCARE Exchange Master Student from Brazil (2024). Together with Julia Xavante, the event and project developer at Aldeia Maraka’nà, they will facilitate a knowledge exchange about the ocean.
This workshop integrates Indigenous Knowledge, Marine Science, and Law into a living laboratory open to children and participants of all ages and abilities. We are grateful for the support from HKDIR, the Akma2 Ocean Senses (PI Giuliana Panieri), and the Universidade Indigena of Aldeia Maraka’nà.
Join the workshop if you are in Rio and stay tuned! New events are soon to be announced, our summer is filled up with activities and new ideas!
