Margherita Paola Poto to Lead Inspiring Sessions on Sustainable Farming and Food Systems at Scuola Sant’Anna di Pisa

Pisa, Italy - 28 July 2023 Following her passion for sustainability, food, and co-created projects, Margherita Paola Poto, ECOCARE P.I. and SECURE team member (PI prof. Edel O. Elvevoll),  will be conducting a series of classes at the Summer School "Sustainable farming and food systems in the EU law and policy framework" held at Scuola Sant’Anna di Pisa. The classes, running during the last week of July, are part of the Erasmus+ project SUSTAIN, generously funded by the European Union.

Under the expert coordination of Prof. Mariagrazia Alabrese, the Summer School offers a unique opportunity for professionals in the field of food and sustainability to delve into critical issues related to food sovereignty, food safety, food security, and food justice within the EU law and policy framework.

What sets this Summer School apart is its close alignment with ECOCARE's values and objectives. It fosters collaboration with Italian academic institutions and stands as one of the satellite projects supported by ECOCARE. The shared vision aims to promote environmental consciousness and ethical practices while cherishing the vital role of food and those who nurture it.

Margherita Paola Poto's modules will be an exceptional experience for the participants, with a strong focus on connecting emotions with the subject matter. The classes will utilize a specially designed learning toolkit, incorporating stunning illustrations from Valentina Russo Mucho Amor , aimed at engaging the audience and encouraging them to reflect on the significance of honoring food and its providers.

One of the highlights of the sessions will be the interactive Mingo Board, a collaborative creation by Margherita Paola Poto and Valentina, encouraging participants to engage with the material on a deeper level and explore innovative approaches to sustainable farming and food systems.

Furthermore, students will be encouraged to write a letter to their future selves, reiterating their commitment to the environment and sustainable food practices. Additionally, they will be challenged to develop projects that aim to upscale school-led programs in Tanzania, thereby fostering global cooperation and extending the positive impact of sustainable practices beyond borders.

Margherita Paola Poto's passion for food, the environment, and law will undoubtedly inspire and empower participants, fostering a renewed appreciation for the connections between nourishment, sustainability, and social responsibility.
