Arktis Om UiT Studentliv / Studier

The excursion was a collaboration between the universities, and the reason for it was for the doctoral researchers to attend an international doctoral course.

The course is called Ensure Impact by Targeted Communication and is part of the Arctic Graduate Schools at the three universities. It focuses on communicating arctic research to different target groups. The role of communication is highlighted because the impact of research is depending on how well the communication is working. With fast changes in climate and a prominent green transition in the Arctic, communication becomes vital for informed decision-making. This was the first time for this course to be held, but there are plans for more opportunities ahead for the doctoral researchers at the Arctic Graduate Schools in the North.

The collaboration between the universities for this course is a part of The Arctic Five collaboration. The Arctic Five is a partnership between the five Arctic universities in Luleå, Norway, Umeå, Rovaniemi and Oulu, and one of the things they have in common is that they all have Arctic Graduate Schools, where doctoral researchers with an arctic research focus attend. This time three of the universities attended, but the plan is for it to be a collaboration between all five universities in the future.
