Stillingsbeskrivelse

I am a Professor with the Faculty of Biosciences, Fisheries, and Economics at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. I hold a Ph.D. in Resource and Environmental Economics from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, and an M.Sc. in International Fisheries Management from the University of Tromsø, Norway. My primary research areas include environmental and resource economics and management, with a particular emphasis on ocean resources such as marine fisheries and aquaculture. My work spans applied microeconomics, bioeconomic modeling, econometrics, environmental valuation, ecosystem services, and application of machine learning in fisheries. My current research focuses on: 1) using machine learning techniques to predict fishing catches, fishing grounds and optimize fishing routes; 2) quantitative assessment of the ecological and economic effects of climate change on fisheries; 3) exmploying experimental games or choice experiements to assess or develop adaptive strategies and management measures to address climate change and invasive species; and 4) evaluating the productivity and efficiency of fisheries and aquaculture in relation to environmental issues using DEA modeling.
