Mine forskningsinteresser er først og fremst knyttet til hvordan ulike kategorier, aktører, institusjoner, kontekster, m.m. samvirker, endres og utfordres, empirisk og teoretisk. Spesielt er jeg opptatt av hvordan ulike forståelser av kjønn svært ofte fører til nye kritiske spørsmål når det gjelder strukturelle endringer og aktørskap og hvordan det i sin tur leder til utvikling av analytiske og metodiske tilnærminger hvor motsetninger, grenser, marginer, kompleksiteter og tvetydigheter må studeres. Jeg forsøker å jobbe med eksplisitte tverrfaglige perspektiver: sted og stedsutvikling, arbeids-og industrialiserte landskap, endringer i arbeid og arbeidsmarkedet ('ny' økonomi), migrasjon, mobiliteter, om-/restruktureringer av sted, skala, rom, globaliseringsproblematikk, bistandsprosjekter, økonomi & kultur, kulturelle skift, institusjonell etnografi, konstruktivisme, materialitet, praksisteori, faghistorie, feministisk teori, kulturteori, sosial teori, kjønnet kunnskapsproduksjon.

My primary research interests are how different categories, agencies, institutions, contexts etc,, when they come together, are being changed and challenged, empirically and theoretically. I am particularly interested in how different understandings of gender tend to entail new and critical questions about structural shifts and human agencies and how those, in turn, lead to development of other analytical and methodological approaches by which contradictions, borders, margins, complexities and ambiguities must be analysed and studied. I try to work within an explicit cross-disciplinary approach and my research themes and issues are: place and place constructions; labour- and industrialised landscapes; changes in work and labourmarkets (‘new' economy); migrations; mobilities; restructurations of place, scales and spaces; globalisation; gender development projects and project chains; economy & culture, cultural shifts; institutional ethnography, constructivism, materiality, practice theory, history of science, feminist theory, cultural theory, social theory, gendered knowledge production.
