Stillingsbeskrivelse

Klara Stensvåg (dr. scient) er professor i marin bioteknologi ved Norges fiskerihøgskole, Fakultet for biovitenskap, fiskeri og økonomi. Hun er leder for forskningsgruppen Marin bioprospektering. I sin Forskning fokuserer hun på antimikrobielle forbindelser og deres gener fra marine organismer som kan benyttes som en kilde for utvikling av nye antibiotiske- og nye antibiofilm midler. Aktive substanser isoleres og deres virkningsmekanismer overfor antibiotikaresistente bakterier studeres. Stensvåg er blant annet leder for «AntifoMar», et terrfakultært prosjekt som har som mål å utvikle biofilm hemmende komponenter som kan benyttes i medisinsk- eller i industriell sammenheng. Forskningsgruppen er deltager i CANS, Senter for nye antibakterielle strategier.

Hun er også programleder for utdanningsprogrammet i bioteknologi (bachelor) og i marin bioteknologi (master).
