Forskningsinteresser
The presence and activity of microbial communities in northern high organic ecosystems are studied with different molecular methods (metatranscriptomics, amplicon sequencing, SIP, microarray, FISH, microscopy) in situ, in controlled laboratory experiments and in pure cultures. A culture collection of methane oxidising bacteria (MOB) from different latitudes exist and is used for physiological and taxonomic studies. Novel approaches are applied for isolation of MOB from the environment. Arctic and Sub-Arctic field studies include ongoing projects in terrestrial gradients and wetlands, Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, marine methane seeps around Svalbard and palsa ecosystems, Finnmark.
