I am a Professor of Machine Learning, conducting research in self supervised learning and multimodal systems. I am an interdisciplinary researcher having worked with several stakeholders and disciplines across climate, energy, law, healthcare and environment, including companies such as Siemens, Tesco and others.

Before joining UiT I was a full professor and the University's AI Director at the University of Aberdeen in the UK, where I co-led the NOK 200M UKRI AI center for doctoral training SUSTAIN, among several other projects.
