Beatrix Himmelmann is the author of numerous articles and several books. Her book publications include Kants Begriff des Glücks, published by de Gruyter in 2003 (reprint 2011); (ed.) Kant und Nietzsche im Widerstreit, published by de Gruyter in 2005 (reprint 2012); Nietzsche, published by Reclam in 2006 (reprint 2011); (ed.) On Meaning in Life, published by de Gruyter in 2013; Why Be Moral?, co-edited with Robert B. Louden, published by de Gruyter in 2015. Her articles include the chapters on Kant’s moral philosophy, aesthetics and teleology for the new edition of Grundriss der Geschichte der Philosophie [Outline of the History of Philosophy], founded by F. Ueberweg and published by Schwabe/Basel.

After studying philosophy at the universities of Münster, Bonn and Freiburg i Br., Beatrix Himmelmann received her PhD from Justus Liebig University of Gießen in 1995 and her Habilitation from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2002. She has taught philosophy at Humboldt University and, as a Visiting Lecturer and Visiting Professor, at Zurich University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Brown University. In 2010, she joined the Department of Philosophy at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway.
