Speak up!
UiT shall be a safe place for everyone. On this website, you will find contact persons who can assist you if you experience anything worthy of criticism. You can also report incidents here.
Do you have positive or negative feedback about the quality of education at the UiT? Speak up!
In order for UiT to be able to maintain and improve our studies, we need feedback related to how you as a student experience the quality of our education and learning environment. You can provide feedback in connection with the evaluation of courses and study programs or by contacting the head of the study program, the department or the faculty. If you do not wish to contact any of these directly, you may let us know here.
Please let us know if you feel there is scope for improvement
Let us know if you think there are aspects associated with our education that you consider require improvements. For example, there may be deficiencies related to the social or physical learning environment, the quality of teaching and learning activities, the administration of studies, etc.
Contact your study programme/faculty or send an email to verena.woltering@uit.no or oyvind.h.mikalsen@uit.no in the Office for Educational Quality and Learning Environments.
The Department of Research, Education and Dissemination (FUF) is the recipient of your request. Your request will only be read by a limited number of employees. FUF will not reveal your identity through the follow-up of the case if you wish.
Report incidents/conditions that have caused or could have caused harm to people, materials, or the external environment.
This may be for example:
Injuries and spills involving chemicals Fire/fire outbreaks Obstacles in and blocked escape routes Unacceptable behaviour Personal injuries and work-related illnesses
Do not provide names or other personal information if the incident involves individuals.
You can report HSE non-conformance here.
UiT encourages you to report if you experience or observe bullying, sexual harassment, discrimination, or other serious incidents.
When you submit a report, it will be received by a team consisting of staff from the study administration and human resources. The team will ensure that the report is followed up and that you, as the whistleblower, are taken care of.
Describe the incident as precisely as possible. This information should be included:
- What are you whistleblowing about?
- What happened and when?
- Who are the parties involved?
- Were there any witnesses?
- Do you have any knowledge of earlier cases that might be relevant?
Please notify the following employees if you want to send in a notification:
- If you are a student: verena.woltering@uit.no and/or oyvind.h.mikalsen@uit.no in the Office for Quality in Education and Learning Environments
- If you are an employee: svetlana.p.johansen@uit.no and/or gunhild.stavem@uit.no in the Organizational and HR Development Section
If you experience censurable behaviour at UiT or witness another person being exposed to that, you should whistleblow. Censurable behaviour can be
- Bullying and harassment
- Sexual harassment
- Discrimination
- Other censurable behaviour
Bullying and Harassment
The main characteristics of harassment are that the behavior is unwanted, uninvited, and one-sided. Harassment can consist of single incidents or repeated occurrences. If the negative and offensive actions are systematic and repeated over time, it constitutes bullying, which is a form of harassment. Examples of bullying include gossiping and spreading rumors, ignoring someone in a social situation, excluding and isolating someone, withholding information, persistently joking about someone in a negative way, or undermining someone's professional efforts and qualifications.
Oppdatert: 30.03.2026Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is unwanted sexual attention that has the purpose or effect of being offensive, intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or bothersome (Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act § 13).
Sexual harassment is incompatible with a good working and learning environment. It is also incompatible with UiT's core values: credibility, academic freedom, closeness, creativity, and engagement. UiT aims to be an equal and inclusive university where individuals, regardless of gender and gender expression, have equal opportunities. To achieve this, we must show respect for one another.
Why report? - Sexual harassment is not a private matter. It can ruin study and work situations. Many do not report sexual harassment, and this is a problem. Colleagues must not turn their backs on the issue. It must be brought to light so that measures can be implemented. New students and employees should not have to experience sexual harassment.
Oppdatert: 30.03.2026Discrimination
The Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act establishes a prohibition against discrimination based on gender, pregnancy, leave in connection with childbirth or adoption, caregiving responsibilities, ethnicity, religion, belief, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, or combinations of these grounds. Ethnicity includes, among other things, national origin, ancestry, skin colour, and language. Discrimination refers to direct or indirect differential treatment.
