Organisational information
UiT The Arctic University of Norway is an internationally comprehensive university that contributes to development regionally, nationally, and internationally. Our profile is to be internationally leading in knowledge about and for the Arctic and northern areas. Our mission is to provide high-quality, research-based education and to conduct artistic development work and research spanning from fundamental to applied at a high international level. UiT has six faculties, a university museum and academy of arts, and a university library, and is present across four campuses and seven study locations. The map of the university organisation gives more details.
A multi-campus university
UiT has an integrated model when it comes to geographical location. This means that many faculties have research and education on multiple campuses. Some departments are led from Tromsø while others are led from other campuses. What is common is that several departments have employees on multiple campuses. Administration and support staff are organized in the same way. There should be equal service offerings for all employees and students regardless of organizational and geographical affiliation.
