Experiment Requests

The aim of EISCAT is to provide scientists with access to radar, and other, high latitude facilities of the highest technical standard to study the physical processes in geospace, in the high latitude atmosphere, and in the coupling between the high and low latitudes and altitudes. Experimental programmes include Common programmes and Special programmes that are organized by the EISCAT members. You can find information how to use EISCAT data here.

Observation/Experiment Requests from Norwegian Users:

All researchers that work at a research institution in Norway can apply for observation programmes through the national EISCAT consortium. If you work in Norway and want to apply for observation time, please fill out the submission form located at (docx) (pdf) and send it to:

The procedure to apply for Norwegian EISCAT radar time has been updated, with new application deadlines.
70% of time is available for the Feb. 1, 2024 deadline
30% of time is available for the Sept. 14, 2024 deadline

Note that 30% of the radar time for 2024 will be reserved for initial EISCAT_3D operations for trigger modes.
This EISCAT_3D data will be available to the full Norwegian EISCAT community.

For users outside of Norway and outside the EISCAT membership, there is an Open Programme granting observation time to researchers based on the scientific merit of their proposals. If you want to apply through the open programme you can find information here.
