Societal Challenge 6 Work Programme 2016-17 Overview
The Societal Challenge 6: 'Europe in a changing world - Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies' Work Programme 2016-17 is structured around four calls, closely linked to the current political and scientific agendas around the economic crisis, inequalities and the recent international challenges. Overall, there are 15 topics in 2016, 21 topics in 2017 and 3 topics with multiple deadlines. All calls are one-stage submission calls, mainly in the form of Research and Innovation Actions, and three topics as Innovation Actions. There are two ERA-NET Cofund type topics ('Dynamics of inequalities across the life-course' and 'Culture, integration and European public space').
The four SC6 calls are as follows:
Co-creation for growth and inclusion: focusing on the societal and economic potential of co-creation; cultural heritage, creativity and design and participative and evidence-based policy-making, including R&I policies and Science 2.0

Reversing inequalities and promoting fairness: focusing on understanding sources and impacts of inequalities in Europe and beyond, developing solutions to the rise of inequalities and mechanisms of inclusive innovation
- 9 topics in 2016; call opens on 27 October 2015; deadline: 4 February 2016; budget: €43.5 million (incl. €5million for ERA-NET-Cofund)
- 1 topic in 2017 (CSA); call opens on 4 October 2016; deadline 2 February 2016; budget: €3 million
Engaging together globally: focusing on: anticipative and responsive capacities, developing EU security and defence cooperation, analysing migration, supporting the EC's strategy for international cooperation in R&I (i.e. science diplomacy, a pilot scheme to set up European Innovation Centres)

Understanding Europe - promoting the European public and cultural space: focusing on challenges to European legitimacy, cultural and historical literacy, preservation and management of cultural resources, cultural institutions as hubs of social innovation, efficient ICT services and cultural digital resources.
