Registration for SOGIP-FORUM conference opened
Education is supposed to be for all. But there is still a way to go. Some indigenous peoples struggle to find their place within educational systems made by and for majorities, and indigenous issues do not find their way into text books. The situation for many indigenous languages is critical. Still, indigenous peoples are producing knowledge about themselves. In the academic field we are witnessing solutions such as the establishment of indigenous research institutions, indigenous programs and centers, and integration of indigenous themes in research and education. The SOGIP-FORUM conference looks into these issues, and asks how education can work for the interests of indigenous peoples.
The conference takes place at UiT The Arctic University of Tromsø on April 2-4, 2014.
