Å leve med havet – vandreutstillingen kommer til Campus Alta

Vi er omgitt av havet, og vi er laget av vann. Å leve med havet er en vandreutstilling som utfordrer publikum verden over med bilder og tankevekkende, tidvis humoristiske, spørsmål om kystkulturenes fortid, nåtid og framtid. Gjennom fem hovedtemaer – myter, utfordringer, teknologi, mat og relasjoner – utforsker utstillingen hvordan havet former livene våre, og hvordan det fungerer som en metafor for utfordringene og mulighetene jorda står overfor i dag.
Campus Alta setter i disse dager opp fem kuber på campus, ute og én inne, med 20 lerreter med bilder og spørsmål knyttet til live ved havet.
Utstillingen Å leve med havet ble lansert i Europa i 2024 og har siden vært vist på tre kontinenter, blant annet i det amerikanske Arktis. Den fremmer samarbeid mellom kunst og vitenskap, og oppfordrer lokalsamfunn til å tenke nytt om forholdet sitt til vann.
Utstillingen er blitt initiert av Craft-lab og utviklet gjennom samarbeid mellom forskere og bidragsytere ved UiT Norges arktiske universitet og en rekke partnere utenfor universitetet. Med utgangspunktet i denne erfaring, har etter hvert konseptet Forskning til folket spredt seg i flere retninger, og flere plakatutstillinger har blitt vist i ulike former og på ulike steder.
Alle er velkommen til å se, reflektere, samtale og diskutere – enten du er forsker, nysgjerrig forbipasserende eller på jakt etter en framtidig yrkesvei knyttet til havet. Målet er å vekke ettertanke og invitere til dialog.

We are surrounded by the ocean, and we are made of water. Living with the Ocean is a travelling exhibition that challenges audiences around the world with pictures and thought-provoking, sometimes humorous, questions about the past, present and future of coastal cultures. Through five main themes – myths, challenges, technology, food and relationships – the exhibition explores how the ocean shapes our lives and serves as a metaphor for the challenges and opportunities facing Earth today.
Campus Alta is currently setting up five cubes on campus, outdoors and indoors, with 20 canvases featuring images and questions that connect our lives to the ocean.
Launched in Europe in 2024, it has travelled to three continents, including the American Arctic, and it fosters collaboration between the arts and the sciences, encouraging communities to rethink their relationship with water.
The exhibition “Living with the Ocean” has come about through collaboration between researchers and contributors at UiT The Arctic University of Norway and a number of partners outside the university. Building on this experience, the concept Research to the people has gradually spread in several directions, and a number of poster exhibitions have been shown in different forms and in different places.
Everyone is welcome to come and look, reflect, talk and discuss – whether you are a researcher, a curious passerby, or someone exploring ocean-connected careers. The aim is to spark reflection and invite dialogue.
