Theme 1: indigenous people and minorities.

Auckland will talk about how Maori culture is an integrated part of their teacher education. Berkeley will present their work on teacher identity. UiT will present learning from the cooperation, particularly related to Sami culture.

Theme 2: Ethics (and identity)

Paul Heyward (Auckland) leads a comparative study on which ethical dilemmas students, teacher educators in practice, and teacher educators on campus, meets during student practice, and how these are resolved. Interviews of 50 persons are conducted (UiT and Auckland), and Berkeley might get added on.

Theme 3: Practicum

Students practice is very differently organized between the three institutions in TEDNET. We will present how this is done in Berkeley and Auckland, and also present a comparative study.

Theme 4: Master

All three had a master degree as part of their teacher education (but Auckland no longer have one). The very different ways this was done on each institution gives perspectives to the ongoing debate on whether a master degree for teachers is relevant for the work as teacher.
