UNWTO is a specialised agency of the UN and the leading international organisation in the field of tourism. It serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how. UNWTO plays a central and decisive role in promoting the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism throughout the world.

The global panel advises the world’s largest intergovernmental agency for tourism on trends and marketing strategies. Members regularly contribute to the World Tourism Barometer aimed at monitoring the short-term evolution of tourism and providing the sector with relevant and timely information. The barometer contains three permanent elements: an overview of short-term tourism data from destination countries and air transport, a retrospective and prospective evaluation of tourism performance by the UNWTO Panel of Tourism Experts and selected economic data relevant for tourism.

Dr. Lee said she was delighted to accept the invitation;

-  It’s an honour to be part of this global expert panel and I look forward to my inputs making a worthy contribution to the research needs of the UNWTO’. In addition, my involvement with the Panel will give me and my Faculty colleagues access to strategic tourism  market intelligence which will be most beneficial to the courses we deliver to our students here in the Tourism and Northern Studies Department at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway.
