Professor in Tourism Management

Stillingsbeskrivelse

Professor Young-Sook Lee is Korean Australian (moved to Australia after her first degree). She completed her PhD in Sociology (applied in tourism) at the University of Queensland, Australia. She worked as a tourism academic in Australia (Griffith University) for over 15 years.

In 2014, she relocated to UiT The Arctic University of Norway. Since she moved to Norway, she acted as an expert adviser at the Nordic Expert Group for the Prime Minister's office in Finland. She also serves as an Expert Panel member for the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Her areas of research include East Asian cultural philosophies in nature and tourism, tourist behavior, Arctic tourism and sustainability in tourism. In 2017, she led editing the first Arctic tourism book "Arctic Tourism Experiences: Production, Consumption and Sustainability". In 2018, she was selected as one of the members for the Idea Lab for the Future of Tourism (Idélab-Future Tourism: Sustainable and Profitable) by the Research Council of Norway.
