Samisk- og urfolksforskning er et prioritert område for UiT.
Denne forskningen er også en viktig del av Sesam sin virksomhet, og er blitt forsterket etter at senteret organisatorisk ble en del av Fakultet for humaniora, samfunnsvitenskap og lærerutdanning fra og med 1. januar 2013.
Våre prosjekter setter søkelys på både lokale og globale forhold. En fellesnevner for dem alle er den omfattende kunnskapen om samiske forhold som UiT Norges arktiske universitet gjennom mange år har bygget opp.
