Mona Johannessen er leder av Forskningsgruppe for Vert-mikrobe interaksjoner (HMI), som studerer samspill mellom bakterier og mennesker med mål om å finne nye strategier for diagnostikk, infeksjons-forebygging og behandling. I tillegg har hun undervisningsrelaterte oppgaver på bachelor-, master- og PhD nivå.

    Forskningsinteresser

    Interaksjon mellom vert og mikrobe, slik som adhesjon og hvordan bakterien unnviker menneskets immunforsvar. Johannessen er også interessert i bakterielle membran vesikler

    Undervisning

    Emneleder for MBI-1002 Molekylær og cellebiologi (15 studiepoeng), som er grunnstein i 7 ulike studieprogram.

    Bidrar med forelesninger/seminarer og/eller lab-undervisining i MBI-3012 Avanserte metoder i eksperimentell biomedisin (30 studiepoeng), MBI-3014 Infeksjon, inflammasjon og immunitet (10 studiepoeng) og MBI-8005- Avansert og interaktiv antimikrobiell resistens kurs (3 studiepoeng) ved UiT og PhD kurset "Pathogen immune evasion strategies" ved NTNU.
