    Forskningsinteresser

    Forskningsgruppe

    Abhik sine forskningsinteresser er hovedsakelig i fotoaktive materialer basert på porfyrin-analoger og deres anvendelser i medisin og fornybar energi. Pågående prosjekter i laboratoriet hans inkluderer (a) utvikling av syntetiske metoder, (b) høy- og lavvalente overgangsmetallforbindelser og deres anvendelser i katalyse og fornybar energi, (c) fluorerte materialer, (d) fotodynamisk terapi og kreft-teranostikk, (e) 2D van-der-Waals og kovalente heterostrukturer og deres anvendelser i nanomedisin, (f) "dye-sensitized" solceller, og (g) diverse beregningskjemiske simuleringer. Nyere review-artikler:

    Undervisning

    Abhik underviser introduksjonskurset i uorganisk kjemi (KJE-1004) og biouorganisk kjemi (KJE-3201), i tillegg til flere spesialpensa. Læreboken Arrow Pushing in Inorganic Chemistry, skrevet av Abhik og tidligere lektorstudent Steffen Berg, introduserte en innovativ tilnærming til uorganisk kjemi basert på piltrekking (arrow pushing) og vant den prestisjetunge PROSE-prisen for beste lærebok i realfagene i 2015.

    Fra 2021 leder Abhik fyrtårnprosjektet UiT Center for Sustainable STEM Education som har som mål å gjøre bærekraft en sentral del av kjemi- og STEM-utdanningene ved UiT. Prosjektet tar også sikte på å fremme mangfold og inkludering i vid forstand (se f.eks. en biografi av Martin Gouterman, en av de første åpent homofile kjemikere i moderne tid, samt en kortere versjon). I 2022 vant Abhik også NT-Fakultetets Undervisningspris.

    Abhik og hans samarbeidspartnere er spesielt stolt av å kunne tilby prosjektoppgaver til både UiT-studenter og utvekslingsstudenter, hvor studentene lærer laboratoriepraksis samtidig som jobber i fronten av et spennende forskningsfelt. Gjennom årene har mer enn 30 bachelor- og utvekslingsstudenter publisert sine første vitenskapelige artikler basert på forskning de har gjort i Abhik sitt laboratorie.
