Zerihuns faglige kompetanse bidrar til senterets mål om å hjelpe studentene til å tilegne seg antropologiske tilnærminger og perspektiver på vold og rettferdighetsspørsmål etter grusomheter. Undervisningen hans hjelper også studentene med å utvikle kritisk tenkning og vurderingsevne om freds- og konflikt spørsmål med fokus på sosiokulturelle perspektiver.

    Forskningsinteresser

    Faglige kompetanseområder

    Zerihun har utdanningsbakgrunn i filosofi, kulturstudier og sosialantropologi (fra Addis Abeba, Tromsø og Bergen). Hans primære akademiske kompetence er innen kritisk tenkning og politisk antropologi. I tillegg til utdannelsen har han undervist i emner innen vold, rettferdighet og forsoning på bachelor- og masterstudiet ved ISV (CPS) i mange år. Zerihun har en spesiell interesse for kritisk teori og epistemologi i kunnskap produksjon særlig om konflikt, vold, fred og forsoning.

    Zerihuns MPhil- og PhD-forskning og feltarbeid fokuserer på spørsmål om den reproduksjonen og transformasjonen av sosiopolitisk struktur, mangfold og kompleksitet når det gjelder identitet, tilhørighet og tverrgående bånd. Han har utført antropologisk og langsiktig etnografisk forskning og feltarbeid blant minoriteter og/eller muslimske grupper (Weyto, Eastern-Gurage og Siltie) i Etiopia med temaer om etnisitet og casestudie, identitet, tilhørighet og konflikt, minoritetsidentitet , indigenisme og islamsk reformisme, identitetspolitikk og konflikt.

    Erfaring

    Erfaring med å undervise i særlig grad filosofi, logikk og resonnementferdigheter og antropologi i Etiopia.

    I Norge har han siden 2016 undervist i freds- og konfliktstudier i ulike fag innen antropologi, etnisk- og nasjonalismestudier, religionsvitenskap, metoder og metodikk.
