My research project “Memory politics in Northwest Russia” is aimed to analyze the evolution of Russian memory politics in the post-Soviet period and see how it is implemented in the Russian Northwest regions that constitute the country’s part of the Barents region. As part of the project, I intend to investigate how the main trends of memory politics impact the region’s social and political life and how regional-level mnemonic actors interact with federal-level memory initiatives.
