REI-1007 Sustainable Events & Festivals - 10 ECTS
Course content
In this course on sustainable events and festivals, we will explore how event and festival businesses can operate in an environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially inclusive manner. We will examine the principles of sustainability and how they can be applied in the planning and execution of various types of events.
Through lectures, guest speakers, case studies, and practical assignments, you will learn about sustainable practices, the involvement of different stakeholders such as volunteers, as well as economic and social sustainability for local communities. By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of the complex challenges and opportunities involved in creating sustainable events and festivals.

Knowledge
The student:
- Has knowledge of sustainable principles and how they can be integrated into the planning and execution of events and festivals.
- Understands how sustainable events and festivals can contribute to environmental responsibility, economic viability, and social inclusion.
- Is familiar with national and international guidelines and standards for sustainability in event and festival businesses.
- Understands the importance of involving local communities, suppliers, sponsors, and participants to create sustainable events and festivals that benefit all parties.

- Can apply sustainable practices in the planning and execution of events and festivals.
- Can assess sustainable solutions tailored to different types of events.
- Can communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to promote sustainable initiatives.
