TEK-2804 Extended Reality - 5 ECTS
Admission requirements
General university admissions competence and Mathematics R1+R2 and Physics 1. Applicants who can document one of the following also qualify for admission:
- general university admissions competence and passed science courses, or passed the 1-year preliminary course for engineering education, or
- 2-year technical vocational school according to the framework plan laid down by the Ministry 1998/99 and previous curricula
*In order to be admitted to individual courses on the basis of the Y-Vei, the applicant must meet the admission criteria for the Y-path to the study programme of which the course is a part. A limited right to study is given to the specific course - in the same way as applicants for prior learning.

Course content
The subject is built on two projects, a smaller project and a larger project.
The projects involve going through the phases from idea to finished product. The task can be solved in groups, and the project must be managed and documented according to the philosophy TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT.
In total, this part will amount to 100 hours per student. Teaching/supervision is then included.
The own effort in the final project will be approx. 50 hours per student, including status report and status presentation + final report and presentation of the finished product
Objectives of the course
Knowledge and understanding:
The candidate will gain knowledge of project management on a digital platform and in an international team, with innovation and crossborder development where the environment and sustainability are also taken into account. The candidate will experience and understand the impact of different work cultures/ethics, and the value of sharing.
The candidate will gain knowledge of extended reality (XR) technology; hardware (headset, devices, connection etc) and software (game engines, XR client, networking etc)
Skills:
The candidate should be able to carry out a project from idea to finished product. This means that the candidate should be able to generate an idea through a creative process, product development methods, describe the idea with necessary media such as 3D-CAD, mathematical models, simulations, descriptive text and the like. The candidate should be able to assess and indicate the necessary tolerances and sources of error. The candidate should be able to manage the project using project management tools.
For Norwegian students there will be an additional introduction to CAD software, and 3D-modeling.
Competence:
The candidate should be able to use his/her knowledge and skills to be able to communicate with all involved parties in a project. The candidate will gain the competence to work in a creative and independent way to realize an idea through a project.
