SAK-3009 Artistic Reflection - 30 ECTS
Objectives of the course
After completing the course, the student has the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge
- A particularly good ability to contextualize and reflect on one’s own artistic work
- A particularly good knowledge of relevant art history, theory and professional ethics
Skills
- Ability to apply relevant knowledge of art history, theory and professional ethics to reflect on and contecxtualize artistic work, both of one’s own and others, in written and oral form
General competence
- A particularly good ability to contextualize and reflect on one’s own art practice in writing

The following course requirements must be approved before taking the exam:
- Reflective log
The reflective log shall consist of a description in both image and text of the student's ongoing participation throughout the semester in studio visits, individual work in the studio, artist talks, seminars, workshops, and group critiques. Assessment of the Reflective log is done in dialogue with the student and academic supervisor.
- A submitted text
Submitted text (min. 500- max. 4500 words) shall contextualize the students practice and student artworks by positioning it/them in chosen fields within areas such as art history, contemporary art, society, politics, or philosophy etc. The submitted text shall include images and text (1-10 pages/ min. 500-max. 4500 words).
- Attendance and Participation
Assessment: Approved / Not approved
The following requirements apply:
-Minimum 75% attendance in Art History and Theory
-Minimum 75% attendance at artist talks
-Participation in a minimum of two elective courses/workshops per semester
Attendance and participation must be documented and approved before the student is eligible to sit for the examination.
