Course content

  • Tuition in relevant art history, theory and professional ethics
  • Knowledge about the social contexts and prerequisites of artistic practice
  • The planning and carrying out of a solo exhibition

Objectives of the course

After completing the course, the student has the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the context and prerequisites of artistic practice
  • A good knowledge of relevant art history, theory and professional ethics
  • Knowledge of the planning and completion of a solo exhibition

Skills

  • Ability to plan and carry out a solo exhibition
  • Ability to contextualize and reflect on different artistic practices in relation to one’s own work

General competence

  • An understanding of the production and execution of a solo exhibition

Lectures, workshops, seminars, artist talks, studio practice, group critique, supervision.

Description and reflection on participation in studio visits, student's own studio practice, artist talks, seminars, and workshops.

More info about the oral exam

The exam consists of:

  • Brought physical project/work
  • Oral presentation and examination based on the brought physical project/work and the portfolio
  • Portfolio

The portfolio must contain the following:

  • Documentation and contextualization through text and images of work made in the studio, during process and exhibitions, and in relation to the solo exhibition, artist talks, workshops, and studio visits.

The presentation will last for 10 minutes. The examination and feedback from the examiners last for 30 minutes. The exam lasts for a total of 40 minutes.
