About the course

The course is mandatory in the psychology bachelor program and one year study in psychology. The course can be taken as a singular course.

Objectives of the course

Knowledge

  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of central social psychological theories on how individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by social context.
  • Demonstrate knowledge about the central scientific methods that are used to understand social psychological phenomena.

Skills

  • Apply social psychological theories to explain how individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by social settings.
  • Apply knowledge of social psychological phenomena to address societal issues and challenges.

General Competences

  • Be able to communicate the complexities and challenges of how individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by social settings.

Credit reduction

If you pass the examination in this course, you will get an reduction in credits (as stated below), if you previously have passed the following courses:

  • PSY-1705 Social Psychology 10 ects
  • PSY-1005 Social psychology 10 ects
  • PSY-1201 Social psychology 10 ects

Teaching methods

Teaching consists mainly of lectures. In addition, student-tutored seminars are offered on a voluntary basis.
