Travelling to Tromsø

The easiest way is by plane. From the UK there are good connections from all London Airports with Norwegian, SAS and other airlines. Norwegian may have some direct flights from Stansted, but typically only on certain week days. SAS flies via Oslo but has good connections that make the flight fairly smooth.

From other countires in Europe there are also good connections, either through Oslo or through Copenhagen/Stockholm or Frankfurt. Besides the Scandinavian arlines (SAS and Norwegian) Lufthansa operates a number of connections to Tromsø across Europe. Otherwise, you can look up your regular booking engine (expedia, trivago etc.).

Where to stay

Tromsø has a large number of options when it comes to accommodation. Hotels are plentiful, but a number of them may be expensive. AirBnB is also a good option. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide campus accommodation.

The Arctic Weather

The start of November is considered a fall/winter period in the Arctic, and there is hardly any sun during this month. The average temperatures are between -1 to -8 Celsius. The first snowfall of the season happens in September or October, but the weather is very shifty, so you can expect both snow and rain. So, keep that in mind when packing.

Conference fees, meals and funding

There is no funding available for travel or accommodation, but there will not be a conference fee for speakers. The organizing committee will provide lunches during the two days of the conference as well as a conference dinner for those whose abstracts are accepted.

For other participants, the conference fee is 50 Euro (includes, coffe/tea/light snack and two lunches). There is an additional 100 Euro fee if you will attend the conference dinner.
