CRAFT & ENCODE present: Her (2013)

CRAFT & ENCOCDE present Spike Jonze's film Her (2013)
About the film:
In collaboration with the research group CRAFT and the network ENCODE (both UiT), we invite you to a special screening of Spike Jonze's original and thought-provoking science-fiction film and romance, featuring a brilliant Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role.
From the creative mind of filmmaker Spike Jonze comes the romantic drama "Her" - a unique and original love story. The story takes place in near-future Los Angeles, where the protagonist, Theodore, makes a living writing personal letters for people who don't have the time or ability to write them themselves. He is heartbroken after the end of a long-term relationship, and only emerges from his shell when he becomes acquainted with the new, advanced AI-driven operating system "Samantha."
"Samantha" is an AI system, that communicates with Theodore through a lively, female voice. She is both sensitive and funny, and as she learns more and more about both the world and Theodore, their friendship grows into love. They will never be able to be intimate with one another. But does that mean they can't love each other? And can AI-driven system do anything other than simulating humnan feelings?
Introduction by Cornel Borit, UiT.
