Vebinar: Student Advocacy - the Classroom as an Agent of Change

  • Human rights research, standards, and mechanisms
  • Organizing and advocacy
  • Persuasive writing
  • Leadership and teamwork skills

Fra SMR sin nett-intro:

There is increasing attention given to encouraging more active student learning. In 2021,  the Master’s Programme ‘Human Rights Theory and Practice’ at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo, for example, began a partnership with Scholars at Risk (SAR) as part of reforms to encourage more active learning, and to close the gap between theory and practice. In one of the Programme’s courses (Human Rights in Practice) students form groups, known as Student Advocacy Seminars, to advocate on behalf of imprisoned academics in selected cases and countries and for academic freedom at large. This “real-world” learning environment has fostered high levels of student participation and creativity, all while accomplishing pre-set course learning objectives.
