Transformative pedagogies: Opening workshop

We invite you to the opening workshop that is part of the Implisitt project (PI: Kjersti Fjørtoft), hosted by the Institute of Philosophy at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. At the same time, this workshop will kick off the PhD project: Transformative pedagogies: Doing Democracy in Academia (PI: Sarah Musubika) hosted by the Center for Women`s and Gender Research.

The overarching aim of the projects is to examine whether gender and diversity perspectives are included in syllabus literature and how these perspectives are conveyed in teaching and learning. We hence explore classroom practices, interpersonal relations between teachers and students, as well as reading lists to map the content. We also explore how gender and diversity shape student experiences.

In this workshop, we invite teachers, researchers, administrators, and other stakeholders to join the dialogue on transformative pedagogies at UiT in particular and in academic teaching in general. In the first part of the workshop, associate professor at the department of interdisciplinary studies of culture at NTNU, Jennifer Branlat, will give a keynote on the interconnection between students, teachers, teaching materials, and ways of knowing. The second part of the workshop will be an interactive session, where all participants are invited to reflect upon and share experiences of the interconnection between students, teachers, and materials, and how they relate to the UiT strategy. Your participation would benefit the project and the dialogue on transformative pedagogies at UiT, and we hope you are available to share these two hours with us.

The workshop language is English.
