Webinar about the LIMS function of the electronic lab notebook RSpace

In September 2021 RSpace will be updated with a fully integrated LIMS, which is very useful for those working with physical samples.

This webinar will provide an overview of the problem from a researcher’s point of view and present a case study of the kinds of problems created by inadequate sample tracking and the lack of workable alternatives for associating samples with the experimental record. The new Inventory module being developed for the RSpace electronic lab notebook allows sample data to be associated with other experimental data and the experimental record, and sample data to be accessed and managed from within the ELN side of the application. Through integrations with repositories like Dataverse and Figshare, data from RSpace and these other tools the sample data and the experimental data it’s associated with can be deposited together directly into the repositories, where it can be accessed and queried by others, facilitating reproducibility.

Attendees will learn about sample tracking, and how to incorporate usage of samples into the record of their experiments, and how this can enhance the quality of their record-keeping and the reproducibility of their research. The webinar will be of interest to researchers who use bio and geo samples in their research, and to research data managers and data stewards who work with researchers in preparing deposits of datasets into data repositories.
