Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag av avhandlingen:
The gain of no gain.
Weight gain over 7 years increased the risk of cancer in women in Norway. Our study reveals the relationship between weight gain and cancer. Weight gain, regardless of BMI status, increased the risk of several major cancers such as breast, colorectal, and endometrial cancer, as well as pancreatic cancer with its poor prognosis of survival. By avoiding weight gain, 43% of pancreatic cancer cases in women in Norway diagnosed in 1998–2015 could have been prevented.
There are few studies on the topic of weight gain and certain cancers. Our results on pancreatic cancer are new and our research have demonstrated the impact of weight maintenance.
