Open lecture: Communicate your science - crash course in presentation techniques

Do you want to develop your dissemination skills and get some tips and tricks for oral presentations? This crash course in presentation techniques is especially adapted for researchers, but other interested can also join the seminar.

The seminar will be held by associate professor Audun Hetland, an academic with a big heart and a special gift for communication and outreach. Hetland is Norway’s first national winner of Researchers’ Grand Prix (Forsker Grand Prix (FGP) 2011), and is an experienced public speaker. He has been one of the trainers for UiT’s FGP candidates for several years, and he is teaching presentation techniques for students at all levels at UiT as well as professors and staff. 

The lecture will be divided in to sessions. The first one (08.30 – 10.00) will have focus on how to tell stories to get (and keep) the attention from an audience. The second session (10.15 – 11.30) will build on the first one and be on how to use film/video as a tool when disseminating, including a short intro on how to make film with your smart phone.

Hetland is a researcher in CARE (Center for Avalanche Research and Education) and head of the research group “Human Factor in High Risk Environments at Institute of Psychology, UiT.

This lecture is included in HEL-8004 General and Scientific Research Communication, a Ph.D.-course administrated by The Faculty of Health Sciences. Please note that all participants in HEL-8004 November 2019 are automatically enrolled.
