“Methacrylates in polymer-resin based dental materials: Assessment of exposure and biological effects.”
Kort sammendrag av avhandlingen:
Polymer-resin based dental materials (PRMs) is extensively used in dentistry. PRMs contain compounds that may cause adverse effects in exposed patients and dental personnel. The purpose of this thesis was to study the biological effects of a commonly used methacrylate on proteomic level, and provide new knowledge on patient and dental personnel exposure to these components.
This thesis adds novel data on patient exposure through application of PRMs directly to the dental pulp, and provide clinical relevant data on airborne exposure to components in PRMs. In addition, it reinforce the notion that methacrylates are reactive compounds that can induce several biological effects in exposed cells at doses that are reported to be non-toxic.
