Guest lecture by Bård A. Berg, associate professor, Dept of Philosophy, UiT
In June 2017, the Norwegian Parliament approved a motion for establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for the unfair treatment of the Sami people in Norway. The commission will start its work in the course of 2018.
The decision caused a lot of debate as to the mandate and need for such a commission. For our English speaking audience, we have invited Bård A. Berg to give a short introduction to Sami history and the background for the debate.
