SANNHETENS SLAGMARK

Dette ble vedtatt av Stortinget 20. juni i fjor, og nå skal selve mandatet utformes. Har du spørsmål som du ønsker svar på, eller synspunkter du vil ytre? Da kan du stille på Driv mandag 5. februar. Der inviterer UiT Norges arktiske universitet til åpen debatt om den samiske delen av disse spørsmålene, med et panel bestående av fagfolk og politikere med ulike standpunkt i saken.

Arrangementet er organisert av Senter for samiske studier, Senter for fredsstudier og institutt for lærerutdanning og pedagogikk, og er en del av Samisk Uke og UiTs 50 års jubileum

WHAT CAN BE RECONCILED AND HOW CAN A TRUTH COMMISSION CONTRIBUTE?

Stortinget (the National Assembly of Norway) established a truth commission tasked with discovering  and revealing the past wrongdoing by the Norwegian government in its attempt to assimilate the Sami and Kven people to the Norwegian society. This was enacted on 20 June 2017, and the mission is formulated at the present.

UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites you to a public debate on issues pertaining to the Sami people at Driv Student House on Monday, 5 February. The panel for the debate will consist of experts and politicians holding a range of perspectives on the topic. Those in attendance are welcome to direct any questions or opinions they may have towards the panel members.

The event is organized by the Centre for Sami Studies, the Centre for Peace Studies and the Department of Education and Pedagogy. It is part of the Sami Week and the university’s 50^th anniversary.
