Game the system, trick the metrics
The current scientific evaluation system can be compared with a competitive game in which different players try to maximise their (bibliometric) score. Games have their rules but also many ways to be cheated. Who are the bibliometric gamers? Do you know how they cheat? In this presentation, I will show 9 ways in which scientists, universities and journals game the evaluation system and discuss the implication of such practices.
