Welcome to International symposium at The Faculty of Law, University of Tromsø, Norway

17th – 19th November 2013

Extractive Industries in the North – what about Environmental Law and Indigenous Peoples Rights?

Researchers, such as legal scholars and social scientists, around the world are focusing on questions relating to the Arctic, and to activities in the High North. However, new possibilities lead to new challenges. We invite you to come to Tromsø to discuss the situation for Indigenous Peoples Rights and Environmental legal issues related to Extractive Industries in the North.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the North of Norway, in the beginning of two months of polar night! We are happy to present a various and very exciting program.

The conference language will be English.

We start with an informal dinner reception on Sunday evening the 17th, with some introductory speeches from invited guests. The conference will continue with speakers and paper presenters on Monday and Tuesday.

Conference fee: NOK1860,-/ students NOK 930,- (includes dinner Sunday, conference expenses and lunch Monday and Tuesday)

(Each participant cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. We have pre-booked some hotel rooms. Please contact tine.m.hagensen@uit.no for more information)
