Stay safe - respect the guidelines
Statsbygg and the contractor are using explosives to reach the foundation layer for MH2. Due to the glass ceiling of Lysgården in the Medicine and health building, and other possibilities for harmful debris, some precautionary measures should be applied to avoid injury or death.
For your own safety you should:
- RESPECT THE SIGNAL. 3 minutes before a scheduled blast, it will notified by a long signal, followed by periodic signals until the blast goes off.
- EVACUATE SUSCEPTIBLE ROOMS before the blast. Posters that designate the nearest meeting place are distributed in all necessary areas.
- MOVE AWAY FROM LYSGÅRDEN (the open space under the glass ceiling on level 6) when the blasting signal starts.
- DO NOT GO BACK to rooms/Lysgården before the signal has stopped.
If you should notice damage on buildings/supplies which might be due to the explosions: PLEASE CONTACT THE CLOSEST SUPERVISOR OR SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE.
IF SOMETHING REPRESENT A DANGER TO LIFE AND HEALTH - EVACUATE!
Set off the evacuation alarm if the situation calls for it, and follow standard notification routines:
CALL 110/112/113 AND INTERNAL NOTIFICATION NUMBER 776 44444
Failure to comply with the safety routines is at your own risk.
Why MH2?Medical and health professionals are in high demand, and an aging population will require an increase in their numbers. UiTs students often choose to remain in northern Norway, supplying the area with health care workers. Building MH2 will allow us to increase the amount of students and continue to improve our studies to meet the demands of the future.
